Yes, I’m writing a report! Time to shock everyone! The fishing the past few months has just been great!
The offshore fishing for mahi mahi has been some of the best late season fishing I’ve seen in years. Lots of nice fish in the 8-15lb. range, with usually a few bigger fish thrown in. A few weeks ago we were only nine miles from shore and kept 32 fish. We let go probably another 20 fish. The reef has also been great for nice catches of medium sized mangrove snapper. About three weeks ago we had a nice run of big amberjacks. We had several trips where we caught at least one fish over 50 pounds. The biggest one caught this season was a few weeks ago, and weighed a whopping 78 pounds! It pulled us over a mile before we got it in the net. Well, that’s about it for now. On a personal note, we are looking for someone who would like to trade some fishing for a place to stay when we go skiing. We are looking at going to Keystone or Vail this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Well, Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
It’s been a whirlwind past few months, and time has been flying!
The fishing the past few months has just been great. Lots of nice mangrove and yellowtail snapper for tablefare. The grouper season is closed until May 1st, but catching and releasing them has provided some great action. The mackeral bite has been the hottest bite in the past few weeks. Lots of nice spanish and ceros, but the kingfish have been hot. I’ve had several days the past week alone where the kings are biting as fast as you can throw a bait in the water. Today we caught and released kings for about three hours until the guys needed a break. We then ran in and caught some nice snapper and released a bunch of grouper. The sailfish bite had been scattered, but has picked up nicely the past week. The highlight of the past week was Dominics’ 44 lb. king caught on 15lb. spin. We had to chase it down before it spooled him. It was great action, and a fun day. Well, Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff

Well, here I am 45 year old and still kickin’! Who would’ve believed it.
The fishing has just been great. Fishing in the channel and on the reef has been non-stop action. Lots of nice snapper, grouper, and mackerel. We’ve been hitting the edge of the reef alot to also keep our eye out for sailfish. They’ve been coming in and chasing the ballyhoo in 20-40 feet of water. This past week we’ve caught several sailfish with most of them being sight casted to. It’s alot of excitement when you see the fish come and eat your bait. We also fished a few days in the bay with great snapper and mackerel action. Dan Fisher caught the biggest lemon shark ever caught on my boat last Friday. It was all of 9+ feet long! It ripped 50lb. braid off of the reel like it was thread. It finally stopped about 300 yards away. He slowly worked it back to the boat, and we got pictures and a release after a nice thirty minute fight. Well, Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
Can you believe it, I’m writing a report!
Sorry everyone, but where does the time go?! The fishing on the reef and Hawks Channel has been great. Lots of nice big snapper and a few grouper. Last week we hit one spot in the channel and caught three nice cobia. They kept one for dinner, and threw the other two back. The bay fishing has been great for lots of sharks and some great catch and release fishing for goliath groupers. If you’re looking to book around Christmas, call me soon as I only have limited dates left. Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
It’s been a strange week for June. Lots of wind, but luckily the fish have been biting well.
We fished offshore a few days and on the reef a few days. Offshore there’s still been plenty of dolphin, but as usual not as many big fish. As my ol’ saying goes, there all the same size on the fork! The reef fishing for yellowtail snapper has been great, with people catching lots of nice big flags for the frying pan. I’m fishing with the same guy today and tomorrow, and it should be a good time for all. Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
Fished this past week with some great people. Lots of nice yellowtail snapper, some mahi mahi, and some big tarpon. Fished two guys today from up north. We had a great time!! Started the day off tarpon fishing first thing in the morning. Our first drift we hooked a doubleheader of tarpon! Talk about starting the day off with a bang! We jumped one off, and releases the other one after a 42 minute fight. we caught a few more tarpon, a nice 20 pound permit, and finished off with six big flag yellowtail. All in all a good 3/4 day of fishing. Well, Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
I’ve sucked at writing reports lately. The fishing though has just been red hot!
I have been fishing pretty much non-stop since mid-April, and it’s been just fantastic! This past week we’ve hit big mahi mahi offshore. We limited out on yellowtail snapper on the reef. And just this morning, we went 3 for 6 on tarpon. You name it, it’s been biting well. I’ll work on getting a few more reports oot. And no, so far there is no oil, just great fishing! Until Next Time…..Capt. Jeff
Hi there captain Jeff, I’m not sure if you will remember us or not but we are the canadians who didn’t listen so well out on the water lol. I knew you were going to be away so I waited to send you a few pictures and my thanks. We had an amazing time, and it was a blast to go fishing on your amazing boat. I have alot of photos and wasn’t sure if you would want very many, so I just sent the three on here. if you want some more I have a few of the boat and of fishing in action, and maybe a pelican getting shot with a hose. It was easily the best day of our trip to the US amd you were easily the best person I met.
Best wishes,
Earl Johnston

Last week we had some outstanding fishing! Sailfish and cobia tailing on the edge of the reef. Snapper and grouper hitting your bait as soon as it hits the bottom. And then came the wind. We’ll probably get blown out the next three days, but I’d rather everyone have a fun trip than a chumming trip. Highlight of last week was 5 for 8 on sails one day. Another day we whacked a few sails, and also put four big cobia in the box. The largest cobia was 52lbs. Well, Until Next Time….Capt. Jeff
